After creating your survey, it's time to decide who should belong to the Audience.

Whether you'd like to collect feedback from customers who just created an account in your mobile app, or you prefer to survey all newsletter subscribers, you will need to distribute the survey accordingly.

In this article, we'll cover each survey type to guide you through setting it up.

💻 Website or in-product survey

By default, a Website survey will appear on all pages where you installed the Survicate tracking code, unless you define targeting for page and audience of your surveys.

To narrow down who of your website visitors should see the survey, go to the Target > Audience tab:

and create user segments based on various parameters like the number of visits, visit source, language, attributes, and many more. Include filters you'd like to segment your audience.

If you have two or more audiences enabled, we trigger the surveys to all enabled audiences, which means a visitor who matches the conditions of one or the other audience will see the survey.

💡 Additionally, choose where your survey will be displayed.

Go to the Target > Triggers > Where would you like to show the survey? section:

Select the Only certain pages option if you want to display the survey on a specific page. Here you'll see two options: Show the survey on the following pages and Don't show it on certain pages. You can apply both conditions for one survey so that it only shows on a specific group of pages, while excluding some of them.

📩 Email or Shareable link survey

Survicate gives you the tools to create engaging surveys that you can distribute using your preferred email platforms. By setting up your survey in Survicate, you can easily embed it with your email service to reach your audience effectively.

Once you are ready with your survey, head on to the Configure tab choose which tool you will use to send out the survey so that respondents are recognized with their names and email.

If you want to use unsupported software or collect only anonymous responses, you can skip this step.

Then, head over to the Share tab of your survey.

  • Direct link

You will see a link to your survey in the Share section. You can hide this link behind a CTA button or hyperlink it. You can also link it to an image - and share it wherever you want - Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin. This way, anyone who clicks on the link will be able to answer the survey.

  • QR code

Instead of sending the survey as a link, you can get the QR code that can be presented on any type of poster or in a presentation, asking respondents to scan it and answer the survey on their phones.

  • Launch in an email

You can also choose to display the first question directly in the email's body. Hence, your respondents will be able to start the survey directly from the email. They'll then be redirected to a landing page to take the rest of the survey.

All you need to do is copy the code generated once you click on the Get your Code button and paste it into an HTML editor of your software. It's a simple copy-and-paste job and doesn't require coding or technical skills.

If you need assistance sharing surveys through different platforms, our articles will help you: Gmail, Messaging platforms, and Social media platforms.

The Audience of your Email survey should be set up in the tool you're using. Whether the survey will be sent as an automated email campaign, linked in a public social media post, or sent after a customer completes a purchase - you decide who it should reach.

📱Mobile app survey

By default, a Mobile app survey will appear to everyone in the mobile application where you installed the Mobile SDK.

To narrow down who among the app's users should see the survey, you can set it up in the Audience tab:

Custom audience allows you to segment a group of users based on parameters such as the Attributes, Device language, Logged-in status, Operating system, or Screen orientation. Use filters to segment your survey audience:

Don't forget to save and enable your Audience!

If you have two or more audiences enabled, we trigger the surveys to all enabled audiences, which means a visitor who matches the conditions of one or the other audience will see the survey.

💬 Intercom Messenger survey

Intercom Messenger surveys can be distributed from your Intercom account.

In order to send it out to your contacts, you'll need to connect the Survicate - Intercom integration and:

  • distribute the survey via Intercom Chat or Intercom Post - set up audience rules in Intercom as you'd do with any Outbound - and send your message!

  • send it during a conversation - while talking to a customer on Intercom, you can find Survicate in the list of your connected apps, select a workspace and a survey and send it as a message to the person you're speaking with.

  • or set it up so that it's sent automatically after an Intercom conversation is closed - here's how to set it up.

You decide on the Audience - select recipients of the survey in your Intercom account and send it out to your preferred group to colelct feedback from specific respondents.
