Targeting based on visitor frequency will let you target your survey depending on the number of times a visitor has visited your website or in-product. You can include or exclude your visitors based on their number of visits and show your survey only to a group of visitors for a personal website experience.

Common use cases include:

  • survey new visitors,

  • run chosen surveys only for your loyal customers,

  • survey your returning visitors.

Set up targeting based on visit frequency

1. Head on to Target > Audience:

2. Create a New Audience, then pick Visit Frequency under the Add Filter button:

3. Here, pick whether you'd like to include or exclude the users with a specific visit count:

4. Pick the number of visits your visitor had, and click Create Audience:

Visit frequency tracks the page where the Survicate tracking code is installed. We count visits based on Session Storage, which only maintains data while the session is active, typically as long as the browser or tab is open. Once a visitor closes the tab or the browser, session storage data is deleted. If the page is opened and a respondent refreshes it, it will not count as a new visit.

πŸ’‘ You can also add more filters to a specific audience by clicking Add Filter.

❗️Remember! You have to enable the audience to display the survey properly!

πŸ“Œ If you have two or more audiences enabled, we trigger the surveys to all enabled audiences.

Best practices

Define other filters in your Audience

Show the survey to users from a chosen visit source, visitors speaking a particular language, or using a mobile or desktop device. Learn how to achieve this here.

Run multilingual surveys

Try our automatic translations feature to show your respondent's surveys adjusted to their browser language and increase the response rate.
