📌Note: Segment integration is currently supported for website/in-product surveys and for mobile surveys (React Native, Android, and iOS apps). If you'd like to use this integration with other survey types, drop us a message via live chat. We'd love to hear more about your use case!
When it comes to the supported connection mode, we support website and mobile sources using a device mode, as well as server-side (Cloud Mode) sources:
Connecting Survicate to Segment
To integrate with your Segment account, go to Settings ➡️ Integrations, then find your preferred Segment integration and open it:
There are 3 options to choose from. Here, we'll describe each of the integration options in more detail.
Segment (Mobile)
Use this integration to sync data from your Segment client-side, mobile sources.
We're supporting:
iOS apps ( Swift )
Android apps ( Kotlin )
React Native apps
When enabled, Survicate will start receiving the following data from your app:
Screen views ( Screen calls )
User attributes ( Identify calls )
Company attributes ( Group calls )
Events and their properties ( Track calls )
You can use the data to:
Trigger mobile surveys using screen names
Trigger mobile surveys using events and their properties
Trigger mobile surveys using user & company attributes
Filter survey results by data you're sending to Survicate with Segment.
Additionally, this integration will send survey responses as events to Segment.

The Segment (Mobile) integration can be installed in another way as well.
All you need to integrate Survicate with Segment is to install the Segment Plugin in your application, following those instructions.

💡You can launch website surveys on your website via Segment by connecting Segment (Web, Actions) as well. Keep on reading to learn more about how to set this up.
Segment (Web, Actions)
Use this integration to sync data from your Segment client-side, web sources.
Once enabled, the Survicate JavaScript code will load in the selected Segment source. The Survicate tracking code is required for launching web surveys.
We're supporting the following data types:
User attributes (Identify calls)
Company attributes (Group calls)
Events and their properties (Track calls)
You can use the data to:
Trigger website surveys based on events and their properties
Trigger surveys using user & company attributes
Filter survey results by the data you send from Segment
Additionally, this integration will send survey responses as events to Segment.
The Segment (Web, Actions) integration can also be installed in another way.
All you need to integrate Survicate with Segment is to get to Settings ➡️ Web installation and click Install with Segment. You will be prompted to your Segment account - choose the workspace you want to connect with. Your Tracking code will be installed automatically, and the destination will be set up as well.
After choosing Segment (Web, Actions), click Connect:
Log in to your Segment account from the pop-up window, pick the Workspace and Source you'd like to integrate, and click Allow.

How does the integration work?
Once the integration is enabled, Survicate will start accepting Segment identify & group calls. Information sent from Segment will begin appearing as respondents' attributes. You can use customer data sent from Segment to:
Target your website surveys more precisely - by Segment attributes and events.
Please visit our article on targeting based on respondent attributes to find out more.
Trigger mobile surveys based on:
Events within the app
Screens a user views
Specific user details
Filter your survey results and analyze them faster:
Once the integration is enabled in Survicate, all survey responses to website or mobile surveys will start appearing in the Segment Debugger. You can select destinations or warehouses to send your answers via track events from your client-side source.
📌 Please note that identify & group calls are supported on some of our plans as they require the JavaScript SDK feature.
How to check if the integration is enabled successfully?
Once you answer a website survey installed with Segment, you will see the track events are sent from Survicate to Segment and from Segment to an external data point from the Segment debugger. You can validate the connection by clicking Validate... and picking Survicate as your destination:
After the validation, you'll be able to see them on the respondent profile.
In the source that is connected to Survicate, you should start to see survicate_survey_answered events. They can both be seen in the debugger - as they appear to live, but also under the Schema tab.
