In this article, we will guide you through the process of setting up surveys in Intercom’s outbound chat and posting messages. This will help you ensure that your surveys reach the right audience at the right time.
How to run a survey in Intercom outbound message
Step 1. Connect Survicate with Intercom
To run Survicate surveys via Intercom outbound post/chat, you must connect Survicate with Intercom.
To enable Intercom integration, go to the Connect tab of your survey and pick Intercom from the list of integrations. You can also enable Intercom integration in the main menu: Settings -> Integrations.
Click the Connect button to set up the authorization.
Please note that it's only possible to integrate one Survicate workspace with one Intercom workspace. If you'd like to run surveys in multiple Intercom instances, email sales@survicate.com or contact us via chat to purchase another Survicate workspace.
Now that the integration between Survicate and Intercom is complete, you can begin creating your survey. 🧩
Step 2. Create an Intercom Messenger survey
Click on the New Survey button on your dashboard. Pick Intercom Messenger surveys from the menu:
Add all needed questions, and feel free to set up logic.
💡 You can also click on Templates Library at the top of your dashboard and select the Intercom Messenger survey type:
How to add a survey to an outbound chat
Open the Outbound tab and click on + New message
Choose Chat
Click on the➕symbol that appears to the left of the message.
Select Insert app
Choose Survicate Customer Surveys from the list and pick the survey you want to embed inside your message.
❗If you distribute the survey as a snippet, it won't display in its entirety. Select “Show the full message” to ensure it displays correctly.
How to run a survey in Intercom outbound post messages
Open the Outbound tab and click on + New message
Choose Post
Click on the ➕ symbol to the left of the message
Select Insert app
Choose Survicate Customer Surveys from the list and pick the survey you want to embed inside your message.
Set up audience rules and settings as you normally would, and send your message!
