What counts as a response?

What is a response? How is response limit counted?

Written by Vlada

See below to learn what we treat as a response and count towards the response limit on your account.

📌 If you test your survey live by submitting an actual response, those responses are counted into the limit as well.

In Email or Shareable link surveys:

In Single-question view:

A survey response is one respondent's submission for a survey, no matter whether they completed the survey or only partially answered the questions.

We collect and give you access to both completed and partial submissions in analysis, as you can find both very valuable.

💡 The exception is when your survey starts with a Welcome message, and someone submits this message but doesn't proceed with the remaining questions. In this case, we will show this response in the analysis, but will not count it into the limit.

📌 Please note that we count all other responses towards the survey limit, even if someone doesn't fully answer the survey.

In One-page view:

The response is only saved if the respondent answers all required questions and submits them at the end of the survey. Otherwise, no answers are saved.

Switch between the Single-Question view and the One-page view by opening your email or link survey editor and going to the Create ➡️ Format tab:

In other survey types:
