If you use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to distribute your surveys, we can automatically capture the contact's email address, first name, and last name information - so you'll know who responded to your survey! You'll be able to filter survey results by these attributes, too.

There are two ways to distribute your survey with Kit (formerly ConvertKit):

  1. Hide the survey link behind a CTA button or hyperlink

  2. Embed the first question into Drip email to boost your response rate

In this article, you'll learn how to create an Email/shareable link survey and send it via Kit. Let's do it 💪

Step 1. Create your email survey

Click Create new survey and select Email or shareable link survey, and pick whether you'd like to use a ready template, create a survey with AI, or start from scratch. Now, build your survey by adding your questions, and applying survey logic.

❗️Please Remember! If you want to embed your survey in an email, the first question of your survey needs to be either a Welcome message, Single choice, Smiley scale, Rating scale, or a Net Promoter Score®. If you choose any other type of question as to the first one, we will only provide you with the link to your survey.

Step 2. Design your survey experience

Customize your survey page in the Design tab by adding your company logo and changing colors. Make your surveys entirely branded as your own!

Step 3. Configure the survey settings

Once you are ready with your survey, head to the Configure tab and pick ConvertKit as the distribution tool under Identify respondents with:

Under the Configure tab, you can tailor other settings like multiple responses or survey retaking options, and set up link expiration date or response limit for this survey.

Step 4. Set up integrations for your email survey

Enable chosen Integrations to receive email notifications or send the collected responses to apps you're using.

Step 5. Share your survey

Head to the Share tab and decide how you'd like to send your survey.

  • Direct link

Grab a link to your survey from the Copy survey link button: and hide it behind a CTA button or hyperlink:

Then hyperlink it in your survey:

  • Launch in an email

Display its first question in the email's body, and start the survey directly from the email. Once a respondent answers the first question, they will be redirected to a landing page to take the rest of the survey.

1. Click Get email code, then copy the HTML code.

2. In Kit, you can add a code to a Starting point template, a Classic template, or an HTML Template.

a. In a Classic or Starting point template, add an HTML block to your survey. You can do it by typing /HTML:

Once the block is ready, paste the HTML code copied from the Survicate Share tab, and click Save:

Your survey is ready! 🎉

b. For the HTML template, go to Create HTML Template:

Add the copied HTML code to the email HTML. You can also Preview Layout:

Your template is ready to be saved and used:

Once your template is saved, you can send it to your contacts via Broadcasts or Sequences in Kit 🎉
