With file import as your Research Hub source, you can bring notes, documents (PDF, DOCX), and feedback exports from any tool. Every insight links back to the exact source it came from, so nothing gets lost, and every finding stays defensible.
Import a file to the Research Hub
Step 1. Navigate to the Hub in your Survicate Panel, click Data sources at the bottom of the Research Hub sidebar, go to Files, and click Import file:
Step 2. Upload or drag & drop the file you wish to import:
📌 We support CSV, TXT, MD, MDX, PDF, and DOCX files. The maximum file size is 20 MB.
How to upload a CSV file?
How to upload a CSV file?
All feedback in the uploaded CSV file should be in one column. Otherwise, some of it won't be imported.
Please ensure there are no empty rows separating the feedback entries.
Text fields should be surrounded by quotation marks (") in the file.
Other columns of the imported file can include additional data, such as User traits, Response traits, and Topic names.
When importing a CSV file, you can choose a column that contains predefined Topic names. Research Hub will automatically recognize the values in that column and create the Topics you uploaded. If you already have some Topics in your Hub, it will assign feedback pieces to those existing Topics.
📌 There is a limit of 200 unique topics per file. If the file contains more than 200 topics, the column cannot be used for import.
The first two fields in the pop-up window are mandatory to fill out. Here, you can specify which column of your CSV file is the feedback you wish to import, and what date should be assigned to the pieces of feedback.
Additionally, you can map data from the file's certain columns as user or feedback attributes, which will be visible next to each feedback piece in the Hub:
TXT, MD, MDX, PDF, and DOCX files don't need any special formatting. Upload them as they are.
Using Research Hub
Now that you have uploaded a file to Research Hub, you can use this feedback as a source in any Project. Research Hub's AI will analyze it alongside feedback from your other connected sources to:
surface key themes and trends across your feedback;
identify issues and concerns reported by customers;
generate a ready-to-review report summarizing findings and conclusions.
Run a Project
To put this feedback to work, click + New research project in the Hub, and go through the required steps:
In the Source filters step, go to the Files tab and select your file:
The report summarizes the key themes from your feedback, with each conclusion linked directly to the source quote it came from.
💡 You can select multiple sources for a single Project - combine your uploaded file with surveys, support tickets, call transcripts, and more for a fuller picture.
Add more feedback
At any point, open the Data tab of your project to add more sources. To upload new files, go to Hub ➡️ Data sources.
Check out this section of our Help Center to read more about feedback sources available in Research Hub.
If you add more data to your project and want to include it in the report, click Regenerate. The report has to be approved for the Regenerate button to appear.
Regenerating erases your existing report, including any edits, and replaces it with a new version, so you'll be asked to confirm first:
Analyze with Charts
In the Charts tab, you can create custom charts and dashboards within your Research Project. These charts and dashboards are specific to the feedback and analysis of particular research projects. Click + Add chart to create your first chart. In the creation view, you can choose the chart type, specify the dates you want to include, and add a breakdown to your data. Then click Save widget.
Once you create your first widget, you can add more via the + Add chart button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen:
💡 Column and stacked column charts show trends over time. If you want to analyze totals, use a bar or pie chart. All charts show both numbers and percentages.
You can also add any chart to your report by typing / in the report.
❗ Charts are based on tracked Insights. If your project doesn't have any yet, Track the Insights you want to follow first.
Research Agent
The Research Agent can answer your question based on data from various sources that you synced to the Research Hub and used in this Research project.
It can also help with Survicate-related questions!
To open the Agent, click on Ask Agent in the bottom right corner of your research project in the Hub:
💡 You can select a fragment of the report, and the Agent will focus on this given fragment to answer your question in context.
