Use Comment fields to ask respondents for more details when they select a certain response. 

Enable the comment box under certain answers to collect more customized responses and valuable feedback.

How to enable comment fields?

Add comment fields to answer choices

Adding a comment field to answer choices is possible in Email or Shareable link, Mobile app, and in Website or in-product surveys.

In Matrix, Single and Multiple-answer selection questions, click the speech bubble icon next to the answer you would like to collect more information about to Add a comment field to this answer.

Optionally, you can also set up a Comment title for this question. This is the text that will be visible to respondents who see the Comment field. With this option, you can ask a question or give respondents some context of what you would like them to answer in the comment.

For Website or in-product survey:

For Email or Shareable link survey:

Add a comment field to a question

Adding a comment field to questions is possible in Email or Shareable link and in Website or in-product surveys.

You can enable a Comment field by clicking the Add comment option in the following question types:

  • Rating

  • Smiley scale

  • Dropdown

  • NPS®

  • Ranking

  • Date

Optionally, you can also add a title to the comment field.

❗️ In those question types, the comment field will be displayed regardless of the answer choice a respondent selects.

💡 In all question types, the comment fields are required by default for respondents to fill in, but you can disable it in the question Settings:

❗️Comment fields are not sent to integrated tools. If you need to map comments in Integration, please use logic settings and text answers instead.
