Link survey documentation

If you are sending your surveys to specific people, you might want to attribute specific responses to those known individuals.  This way you can:

  • inquire about experience of specific user
  • accurately act on the feedback responding to individual needs

You can easily accomplish this by sending platform-specific surveys via mailing platforms such as MailChimp and Hubspot or adding special merge tags on your own.

How does mail survey work?

In case of link surveys initial data, like answers and identity is passed in a link:{{email}}&aid=374769

In the link above you can see a few pieces of information:

  • p=intercom means that the survey is to be distributed via Intercom
  • email={{email}} pulls email from Intercom and adds it to a link. As soon as you distribute it, the {{email}} part (named merge tag) will be changed for the specific respondent's email
  • aid=374769 is the answer ID inside Survicate database

This way we can keep track of who gave particular answers 😃

How to pass identity from unsupported software to Survicate

In case you distribute your surveys via platform we don't have on our list, you can pass this information by editing a link. Just create the Shareable link survey and add the merge tags.

For example, you want to capture users' emails when sending surveys via software with merge tag construction like this: [respondent_data]. Just add ?email=[email] to your link:[email]

If you also want to pass other attributes along just add another parameter like so:[email]&my_attribute=[attribute]

Just remember to add & sign between different attributes

How to assign responses to respondents without messaging platform

If you send surveys via your own email, you can edit a link to assign responses to respondents.

You send surveys to 3 people: Angela, Barbara, and Celine
To know who answered create the Shareable link survey, add the merge tags and fill them by hand. Send this link to Angela:

In the Answers tab you will see Angela's responses assigned to her:
